Looking around at all the actors sipping on Champagne, I was in awe. It was 2001, and I was at the premiere of the film The Navigators, having played the role of Rose.
I was just eight years old, but loved acting.
I’d always had the best parts in school plays, and I was so excited to be in a proper film.
‘This is so cool,’ I said to Mum, grinning.
‘You’re my little star,’ she beamed proudly.
But, just a week later, I found my mum desperately gasping for breath, clutching hold of her throat in the kitchen.
I was terrified, and had no idea what was happening.
‘She’s dying,’ I sobbed.
It turned out to be just a panic attack, and Mum recovered, but…
