As my daughter Adelle,17, cycled past me, a huge smile on her pretty face, I cheered loudly.
‘Go on, darling, you’ve got this,’ I yelled.
I couldn’t have been more proud of her. It was November 2019 and Adelle was taking part in a challenge to ride relays in a rickshaw, covering 400 miles between Holyhead, near Liverpool, to the BBC studios in Elstree, Hertfordshire, to raise money for Children In Need. It would have been a big ask for any teenager – but Adelle had been battling with cancer for two years.
