Well it’s that time of year again and doesn’t it sneak up on you! I’m determined to get my Christmas cards made and sent early this year, and with all the wonderful creations in this issue I’m set to go! We have ‘Summer’ themed Christmas cards, these are just perfect for celebrating our hot days here in Australia, a stunning range of styles in the Stampers Challenge using a Darkroom Door Brushed Christmas Vol 1 stamp set, projects with shakers, glitter, fancy dies, frames, subtle stamped backgrounds, cute critters, the list goes on. Using Die-cuts Die-cuts with outlined images work the best, the black card is a great representation for the lead used to keep the coloured glass pieces in place. MATERIALS • Die-cut: Cheery Lyn Designs Arabian magic veil frame • Card: black, white, red • Speciality: acetate • Paper: Rosie’s Studio Just Jolly 6x6in paper pad (sentiment) • Copic markers YG97, YR15, R22 • White string • Adhesives: double-sided tape, mounting tape, glue 1 Die-cut a Arabian magic veil frame from black card. 2 Apply glue to acetate and spread it out to the size of the die-cut piece. 3 Secure the die on top and press over it to adhere it in place, let dry. 4 Turn the piece over and colour using the listed Copic markers. 5 Build up…

Q: I have seen cards that have reversed impressions of the stamp designs on them, I would love to know how to achieve this please? A: Yes you can reverse your stamped images, it’s a lot of fun and very easy to do! See the steps below to get you started. Step 1 Stamp your image on your card as normal, leave room for your reverse image on the other side. Step 3 Turn the acetate over and place it down next to your previous stamp image, be careful not to move it as it may smudge. Press all over the image using a bone scorer to transfer all the ink. Remove the acetate. Step 2 Stamp the image again on acetate using Memento tuxedo ink or a slow drying…

Sponging the edges of a die-cut 1 Die-cut your image using a ‘tan’ mat and layers following the manufacturers’ instructions. 2 Leave the die in place with the blade facing downwards, sponge around the outer edges using chalks or an ink pad. 3 Remove the die to reveal the outcome. Applying Texture Paste 1 Secure card and stencil to your workspace with low-tack or washi tape. 2 Spread the texture paste across the stencil evenly using a spatula. 3 Gently peel the stencil away from the card and let it dry. BEAUTIFULLY FRAMED DESIGNED BY HELEN AIRTON Featured “I like Christmas cards in pinks, purples, aquas etc, but I‘m a bit of an old-fashioned girl at heart and nothing says “Christmas“ to me more than the traditional shades of red and green. I loved the soft pretty colours of the Wild Rose Studio Painted Poinsettias papers and thought they would marry well with the dark, more dramatic red and green card. I felt that the delicate lacy elegance of the Spellbinders Bow Elegance die set really needed to be emphasised , so I created the card bases with both the solid and the lacy dies using both white and coloured card.
