Meet Jaecoo, another brand poised to crack the UK car market. The name is a mash-up of jaeger, the German for hunter, and coo as in cool, and it’s owned by Chery Automotive. Chery is the Chinese giant behind the also-new Omoda marque, which has made a big impact in the UK in a short time, targeting value-conscious mainstream buyers.
Jaecoo is following in its slipstream, but aims to be more upmarket, and has already established a beachhead in the UK; it’s opened 71 dealerships so far, with a target of 130 by the end of the year.
