While it is true that manual gearbox sales are declining, not helped by some car models forgoing a traditional H-patterned gearshift altogether, you may be surprised that clutch replacement services are growing.
“One reason for this is that clutches are not just the preserve of manual gearboxes, they are used on various semi-automatic/automated-manuals, too”, reports Amrik Singh, Director of the West Midland-based A1 Clutches.
While traditional planetary-gearset automatics forgo a friction clutch in favour of a torque-converter, single and dual clutch (2CT) transmissions tend to feature dry clutch packs.
