IONITY is a joint venture between auto giants BMW, Mercedes, Ford, and Volkswagen (including Audi and Porsche) to create a worldwide electric car charging network. With electric cars becoming more and more current, we have an immediate requirement for the infrastructure to enable long-distance electric car travel, and IONITY are partnering with petrol stations across Europe with the target of 400 fast-charging points, with a charging capacity of up to 350 kW each, by 2020. Lubricant major Shell have been consistently trying to enter the electric-vehicle charging sector, and the first Shell-branded charging stations have already been deployed in the UK and the Netherlands.
