McLAREN AND HONDA SET FOR DIVORCE
After three years of dismal results and more DNFs than the other engine suppliers combined, McLaren are finally set to drop Honda and race Renault engines next year. Honda, meanwhile, will stay in the sport and power the Toro Rosso team, after major discussions with senior-level management encouraged continued participation and development in the sport.
The sweetener of the deal, so to speak, was the incentive of getting Carlos Sainz Jr. However, the terms also see Red Bull without Renault engines the following year, 2019, with the switch to Honda seeming inevitable.
Red Bull, meanwhile, have announced Aston Martin as their title sponsor for the 2018 season.
