Ward councillor Donovan Nelson said a fire destroyed the home of 66-year-old Richard Tentin, in Willow Road last Tuesday at about 6pm. “Although he was not home, the fire destroyed everything he had. London: Britain’s unemployment rate has fallen further with the economy reopening following a pandemic lockdown, with vacancies hitting a fresh peak, data showed yesterday. The unemployment rate dropped to 4.3% in the three months to the end of September, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said in a statement. That compared with a rate of 4.5% in the quarter to the end of August, the ONS added. At the same time, job vacancies in the three months to the end of October hit a new record high at 1.17 million. A survey of businesses has shown that 78% of respondents were absent from work and 80% knew someone who was late for work as a result of violence. The survey also showed how violence in communities affected the viability of doing business in the province. Yesterday the City’s application for leave to appeal was granted by Judge Mark Sher in the Western Cape High Court. The case will now be heard by the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein.
