Ramaphosa announces more social relief measures as Covid numbers drop

President Cyril Ramaphosa, last night, though cautiously so, moved the country from level 4 to level 3, easing some restrictions on alcohol sales, large gatherings and movement of people between provinces.
He warned that although figures in Gauteng, the epicentre of the third wave, had significantly dropped, figures from the Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape and, to a lesser extent, Northern Cape were giving him cold comfort.
Based on the recommendations of the Ministerial Advisory Committee on Covid-19, and inputs from the President’s Co-ordinating Council, he said the hours of curfew would stay the same – 10pm to 4am.
