‘EXTRAORDINARY DEMAND’ FOR NEC CAMPING SHOW Demand for tickets for the UK’s biggest camping show has been “extraordinary”, according to the organisers. The Caravan, Camping & Motorhome Show will be back at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham between 22 and 27 February. Five halls will be packed with over 350 exhibitor stands, showcasing the latest tents, trailer tents and folding campers, as well as campervans, motorhomes and caravans. Show organiser, NCC Events, said over 26,000 tickets had been sold by early December, 10 times the usual number at that stage. And with interest in camping, caravanning and motorhoming at an all-time high, Channel 5 will also be filming and broadcasting live from the NEC show. RIVERSIDE LANDS TOP CAMPSITE AWARD Riverside Caravan Site near Skipton in North Yorkshire has been named the Camping and Caravanning Club’s best Certificated Site. Certificated Sites are small, privately run campsites that can accommodate up to five motorhomes or caravans and up to 10 tents at any one time. There are over 1,300 across the UK, operated exclusively for Club members. Throughout last year, Club members nominated their favourite Club CS across five categories – Best Friendly Club Welcome, Best Hideaway, Best New Site, Best Facilities, and Best CS for Families. TREE PLANTING PLEDGE FROM BERGHAUS Outdoor clothing specialist, Berghaus, has pledged to plant two million trees every year in a bid to offset the environmental impact of its business. The Good Wood Project is part of the UK company’s aim to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2030. In the first 12 months of the initiative, Berghaus will plant two million mangrove trees across Madagascar and Kenya in partnership with Eden Reforestation. When the trees are fully grown, they’ll absorb 24,600 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year – the equivalent of the emissions created from driving a car over 60 million miles. Berghaus said mangroves are among the most environmentally beneficial trees on the planet but in the last 50 years roughly half of the world’s mangrove forests have been…
