We keep the campervan stocked and ready, the bed made and cupboards full should a break in the weather and granddaughter childminding duties allow us to spend a few days away. The Grand Canyon S is a long-term member of Hymer’s campervans portfolio and this six-metre fixed bed campervan has particular appeal in rufty-tufty CrossOver spec. But with so many rivals now appearing in the 4x4 campervan sector, it’s not surprising to see Hymer expanding its offering to include a bigger model. To book, or not to book? Had Hamlet been a fan of campervans, that would have been the question. Jen and I are planning a trip to the Sussex coast, the next stage of our English coastal odyssey. In our heads, we are free spirits and so the thought of locking into a series of campsite bookings goes against the grain. Tourne is already established in many European countries but it is not part of any of the big manufacturing groups. It is a smaller, independent company from Slovenia with a simple, four-model range of campervans, all based on the Peugeot Boxer. It made its British debut in February at the Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show at the NEC. It has since been represented at the Warners outdoor motorhome shows through its sole UK dealer, Yorkshire Rose Motorhomes, based at Doncaster Sheffield Airport, in South Yorkshire. The Cruise is the bread and butter of the line-up, with a keen starting price of just under £60k for a sixmetre ’van with the 120hp motor. Mega Mobil is not a household name… yet. This family-owned manufacturer, which specialises in producing high-end campervans, has only been in the UK since 2024 yet is set to increase the number of its UK dealers from two (Go European and Chelston) to 10. “We are already planning to expand the dealer network across the UK,” explains Adrien Maccagnan, Mega Mobil’s sales representative for the UK.
