After leaving high school I bumped into him at a party and we haven’t gone a day without speaking since. While we were dating, my mother Luna was diagnosed with terminal cancer. It was a tough time but she told us to stay positive and surround ourselves with happiness. Our stunning Bride of the Year Ashleigh exudes joy, elegance and fun on her wedding day, despite a hectic week of shuffling plans before the big day. Ashleigh tells us more… Tyler and I had the most unforgettable wedding on 21 March 2020 (just four days before lockdown!). Nothing prepared us for the whirlwind week leading up to our wedding when we had to adjust plans dramatically to work with the changing Covid-19 levels. This involved cutting just shy of 50 guests to attend the wedding, having to cancel our honeymoon in Rarotonga, and then cancelling our backup honeymoon in the Bay of Islands when lockdown was announced. Hope and James were lucky to get married at their dream venue on their chosen date, as lockdown restrictions lifted just in time for their intimate celebration. Their son Xavier was the perfect support to his parents, standing proudly beside them all day. Our wedding was one of the best days of our lives, tied with bringing our two gorgeous kids into the world. We always knew we would elope, and it was the perfect decision for us. Our Groom of the Year Kandarp danced through his wedding day from beginning to end, as he and Matilda honoured their cultures, loved ones and each other. When Auckland’s second lockdown hit in August 2020, Chris and I were forced to quickly change our wedding plans. We couldn’t hold the wedding we had hoped for, surrounded by all of our loved ones, but instead celebrated a ‘lockdown wedding’ in our back garden. Decide exactly what time you need your flowers delivered on your wedding day. The florist can take care of them before delivery and ensure they are in the best possible condition when they arrive. Find a cool spot to put your bouquets when you are not carrying them, often a bathroom or laundry works well. Keep them away from direct sunlight. Maria tells their story… We decided to marry in Johan’s parents garden, a sanctuary Johan’s mum had been building over the past nine years as a little side project.
