Maria Kinney’s book club has, for the last 10 years, discussed an omnivorous and eclectic selection of pulp fiction, thrillers, historical novels, theater, Latin American classics, poetry, and works by authors in their Sterling, Virginia, community. Despite their eagerness to read in just about any genre, the biggest challenge the club faces is finding enough copies for their relatively small group, ranging from 8 to 13 participants. Why? Because this book club reads titles in Spanish, and finding copies can sometimes be difficult. Sterling is a suburban community of 30,000 located in Loudon County, about an hour outside of Washington, D.C.
