If you’re a baby boomer, your risk of developing skin cancer was determined by sun overexposure that occurred decades ago, probably while sunbathing, fishing with your shirt off, or even driving with your arm out the window. Raise your left hand if you’ve had something burned or excised from that hand. But it’s not too late to minimize your chances of causing more skin damage.
Sunscreens do help, and doctors still recommend them, but increasingly, especially in younger crowds, sunscreens are out and covering up as much as practical is in.
