Siberian Thrush, Loch of Asta, Shetland, 2-10 October 2025
AFTER many years of searching for birds on Scilly, I finally took the plunge and headed north for my first Shetland autumn in 2012. I was hooked. But it wasn’t until 2019 that our established crew really came together. There have been additions along the way, and it felt very apt that for the first time ever in 2025, Russell Ness, Jon Holt, Dave Carter, Mark Baker, Matt Slaymaker, Hasan Al-Farhan and I were all together in Scalloway.
