This is a straightforward there and back route, with a good tarmac path along the route of an old railway line, and a pub to start and finish at! The birding is rarely spectacular, but always interesting.

WHERE TO WATCH
1 Park at the Two Boats Inn, and walk along the canal towpath, heading west. Expect Moorhen, Coot, Mallard, Little Grebe and maybe Grey Heron, plus listen and look for Water Rail in reedy areas, plus Reed Bunting. Cetti’s Warbler often sings here, too.
2 Turn on the the path and cycleway leading under Bascote Road. White’s Spinney, on the left, has Great Spotted Woodpecker, spring warblers such as Chiffchaff, Blackcap, Garden Warbler and the odd Willow Warbler,…
