Mammoth-pecker
Nine years ago, in 2015, Martin Le-May gained international fame when his photo of a Weasel hitching a ride on a flying Green Woodpecker went ‘viral'. Well, in January 2024, I make my bid for viral fame with my photo of a ‘reverse Weasel-pecker', with a Green Woodpecker taking a ride on a mammoth. This would be an even rarer photograph as mammoths are long extinct… Sadly, the mammoth in question is not a real one, but the famed sculpture on a raised mound (and renowned vis-migging watchpoint) at Watermead CP, Leicestershire.
