BIRD 1
This finch, bill open, is apparently about to take flight, the raised wings blurred in motion, the balance all wrong for a standing bird. The lifted wings, obscure most of the upperparts, but reveal the lower back and rump, which may be vital clues. In this case, they probably are. The bird is shaped like a Chaffinch (i.e. it’s shaped like a slim sparrow), but the lower back and rump are white, unlike any Chaffinch. Other massive clues are the peachy orange breast, the pure white belly and the rounded blackish spots on the lower flanks. The head being black with pale-tipped feathers (so looking grey) confirms this must be a Brambling.
