Your recent, excellent edition covering the rising popularity of ’90s sportsbikes has got me thinking: is it too soon to be looking towards the Noughties for the next low-budget, high-fun, high-reward investment?
As a (slightly) younger chap, my era of nostalgia was the Noughties, and in dreaming of future investments I find myself browsing through fleabay at myriad Speed Triples, R1s, GSX-Rs, ZX-10Rs, even Ducati 1000SSs… for less than £5k. Surely these will follow the trend of the ’90s bikes? Last of the non-traction control, non-TFT era…
My choice? 2008 Honda Fireblade, maroon, gold wheels, every time. I just need to sell the idea to the wife…

2008 Blade all day, 2006 Triumph Daytona (in yellow, see p35), get in quick with a Ducati 749S… I’ll blame…
