July 1988 was the first issue of Bike that I ever bought. I didn't intend to. I was on holiday in North Wales and the local newsagent didn't stock my usual magazine, and Bike seemed the next best option. It wasn't. Actually it was far better, with authority, depth and a standard of writing I'd previously never encountered.
