» Keep your 916, thanks. Yes, it’s the iconic Ducati sportsbike, but I’ll take an 851 any day of the week. First, it’s more significant. The 8v, DOHC, desmo, liquid-cooled V-twin set the blueprint for fast Ducatis until the V4 arrived. And with injection and engine management, it set us on the path to today’s oh-so-rideable Panigales. Second, it’s more usable than a 916 with better weather protection and less cramped riding position. Third, it’s the bike that won the first-ever WSB title. And fourth, it’s... well, a bit less of a cliché. This peach has only done 10,600 miles.
