TORNASOL STUDIO
A POTENT BLEND of vivid imagination and artisanal techniques powers Madrid-based product-design office Tornasol Studio. Founded in 2017, the studio comprises architect and cartographer Guillermo Trapiello and industrial designer Inés Llasera. Taking an objective approach to light, colour, scale, materiality and movement, the ecoaware pair sources local materials to create bold sustainable pieces that play with form and function. By experimenting with natural elements, the duo seeks to re-imagine the mundane, embodied in the inflatable buoy-like seat and armrests of the nautical ‘Deriva’ armchair in Blue, the sculptural ‘Silla Para Pensar’ (‘Chair to Think’) in Oregon pine wood, and the arresting ‘Kanji II’ stools in Orange, Emerald Green and Red, inspired by the Japanese symbol for sky. tornasolstudio.com
