Railway Passenger Trips
China’s railway network handled a record-high number of passenger trips during the first 11 months of 2025, data from China State Railway Group Co. Ltd. (China Railway), the country’s railway operator, showed on December 16.
In the January-November period, the number of railway passenger trips reached 4.28 billion across the country, up 6.6 percent from the same period last year, according to China Railway.
An average of 11,258 passenger trains operated daily during the period, up 7.1 percent year on year, the railway company said.
Cross-border passenger transport also gained momentum, with the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link and the China-Laos Railway handling 28.94 million and 244,000 cross-border passenger trips, respectively, during the period.
