With subgenres as diverse as deep, minimal, tech, Tropical, Tribal, Disco, bass, and Future House, House is an enormously versatile genre of music. However, all sub-styles have something in common: the pumping four-to-thefloor rhythm, which already set the pulse of the first house productions from the USA in the mid-eighties. Influenced by Disco, Hip-Hop, Electro-Funk and Electro-Pop, the creative use of drum machines and synthesizers gave rise to a rhythm-driven and enormously danceable musical style. At the same time, house was commercially successful early on and left a clear mark on the mainstream in terms of sound aesthetics and production methods. And this is still the case today: The sound of countless hits, for example, is influenced by the commercial, radio-friendly version of deep house.
