“On seeing your pumpkins, theirs are always better” As the song goes, “Neighbours, everybody needs good neighbours”, but the problem is that you can rarely choose who you live next door to. If you are both keen gardeners, then it can go two ways: either you’ll strike up a relationship over the fence, and seedlings will be swapped and information exchanged; or, if you are unlucky, a deadly rivalry will develop. I think the latter is rare because, in my experience, most gardeners are nice people, eager to help and happy to share.
