How do you determine the size of your swimbaits for the different seasons?

Typically, fall baitfish are small, so if fishing that time of year I generally go with the smallest swimbait. I‘ll usually fish a 3-inch size, but if gizzard shad are around, I may go to a 4- or 5-inch swimbait.
In the spring, such as during the prespawn, the fish are looking for a bigger meal. If I’m fishing a ChatterBait, I will use a 6-inch Damiki Buzzing Shad swimbait trailer on the back.
As the spring transitions into summer, just match the forage. So if herring are spawning, match those; if shad are spawning, think bigger.
During postfrontal days with high skies, bass might follow a big swimbait…
