You can watch on his 75-plus YouTube videos (Kayak Outbreak channel) as he nets a bass and immediately sticks the net handle into an innovative yet simple net-handle holder he installed on his Native Watercraft’s seat. A Kansas shootout resulted in one college bass angler booking a berth to the 2019 Bassmaster Classic presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods. As storms rolled and lightning threatened in the distance, 21-year old Nick Ratliff of Campbellsville University edged out West Virginia University’s Nolan Minor to take home a win at the 2018 Carhartt Bassmaster College Series Classic Bracket presented by Bass Pro Shops. The anglers wrapped up with the two biggest bags of the tournament; Ratliff with 13 pounds, 8 ounces and Minor with 13-4. The event was held on Milford Lake in Junction City, Kan. Ratliff earned a fully-rigged Toyota Tundra, a Nitro Z20 bass boat, a $7,500 stipend courtesy of Carhartt and a trip to Knoxville with a spot on fishing’s biggest stage March 15-17.…

Feb. 8-11 Bassmaster Elite at Lake Martin presented by Econo Lodge, Alabama Takahiro Omori found a shallow sweet spot on a point at the mouth of a small creek and the Tallapoosa River to record his fifth Bassmaster victory. Omori spent about an hour cranking the point where he caught most of his weight. He tried to conserve it so it would last throughout the four-day event. The fish were sitting in 2 feet of water just off the point. ELITE SERIES PROS and weekend warriors alike know how important it is to use different lures when casting to a school of bass on offshore structure. Bass grow leery of any bait after seeing it over and over. By running a fresh lure through the school, you can spark additional bites. It is also a common practice to throw shallow bass a change-up when other anglers are hammering the same cover you are. Show the bass something different and you’ll catch fish that snubbed your competitors’ offerings. Many anglers fail to switch baits when they make several passes along a bass-rich bank or stretch of cover that they have all to themselves.
