RAFAEL “FELO” RAMIREZ, the Spanishlanguage radio voice of the Marlins since the team’s inaugural season in 1993, died Aug. 21 in Miami. He was 94.
Ramirez, who had been hospitalized since he fell and struck his head getting off the team bus in Philadelphia on April 26, earned the Ford C. Frick award in 2001, earning him a place in the Hall of Fame.
WILLIAM “BILL” BURKE, who pitched in the Ohio-Indiana League in 1950, died in Long Branch, N.J. He was 88.
LOUIS CRANE, a lefthander who pitched in the minors in 1958 and ’59, died Aug. 24 in Convington, La. He was 76.
JAMES “JIM” CROUSE, who spent three seasons in the minors from 1950-54, died Aug. 22 in Carrizozo, N.M. He was 84.
