Notes from The First National Bank of Myton, Utah, are currently unreported despite being issued during the Series of 1902 plain back era. The reason is two-fold. Most importantly, the bank lasted less than two years; specifically, it was chartered on May 4, 1920, and placed in receivership on Feb. 24, 1922, with the cause attributed to injudicious banking. The bank was organized under the Gold Standard Act of March 14, 1900, which permitted banks in towns of less than 3,000 to be capitalized at half the previously required minimum of $50,000. The Myton bankers capitalized at a minimum of $25,000, which allowed them to circulate up to $6,250.
