In a ‘shootout’ with a Porsche 911 Cabriolet and an Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Volante back in 2000, the BMW Z8’s looks, quality and performance impressed Autocar’s tester, but it was the 911, cheaper by some £10k (or even £13k as a manual), that he preferred.
“I suspect that if you are reading this magazine, the drive is what really matters. And for that, you will be wanting the Porsche,” wrote Gavin Conway.
