The outrageous MG Metro 6R4 rally car is being revived by British specialist Motorsport Tools (MST) for 2024 with a supercharged Audi V6.
Loosely based on the humble Austin Metro, the 6R4 is one of the most notorious – if not successful – Group B rally monsters of the 1980s. It came third in the 1985 RAC Rally, but its unreliable V6 engine kept it off the podium during the 1986 WRC season, during which Group B cars were banned, being deemed too dangerous.
It was, however, one of the defining cars of the Group B era, and original examples are highly sought after today, commanding well over £200,000 in good condition.
MST will build just five new examples at its Bangor base next year, each priced from £295,000 before…
