More moon-and-back mileages this week. Here, then, are the latest runners and riders to have made it past the 100,000-mile mark, based on statistics released by the DVSA.
The Volkswagen Golf was in the top two, but it turns out that its baby brother Polo is equally good at racking up big miles: 680,000 of them managed to get over 100,000 miles and more than 35,000 cracked 900,000 miles. Polos are great little runabouts, and I have direct recent experience of one that used nothing but fuel and tyres with regular servicing. Avoid the three-cylinder and get a 1.4, at least if you plan on some proper commuting.
With that and a budget in mind, a 2003 1.4 S with just over 100,000 miles is £995 with a full MOT…
