RETRO charm has beaten futuristic minimalism, after the Renault 5 outsold the Tesla Model Y in October. However, both were overtaken by the punchily priced petrol-powered Jaecoo 7 SUV.
Indeed, the R5 was the UK’s best-selling electric car last month, although this still wasn’t enough to bump it, or any other EVs, into the top 10; the best-selling car overall in October was the Ford Puma.
Interestingly, however, China’s Jaecoo 7, which costs from £30,115, was the nation’s sixth-best seller, with more than 2,600 registered last month alone.
This isn’t only indicative of how British consumers are attracted to the rock-bottom prices of the Chinese models, but also how overall electric-car adoption appears to be slowing.…
