HYUNDAI’S next all-electric Ioniq model following on from the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 is, unsurprisingly, set to be the Ioniq 7. Previewed by the Ioniq Seven Concept at last year’s Los Angeles Motor Show, Hyundai has made no secret of its plans to put the car into production. Talking about the Ioniq family at the Busan Motor Show, Hyundai’s vice-president of design Simon Loasby said: “We have an SUV coming, we have the Ioniq 7.” Although we won’t see the production version of the 7 for a while, Loasby’s comments reveal that the boxy MPV concept is likely to be tweaked for production to take on more of an SUV look. MORE details have been released on Hyundai’s new all-electric Ioniq 6 saloon, set to go on sale in the UK later this year, including its claimed maximum range of 379 miles – five miles more than the Tesla Model 3 Long Range. The new model, nicknamed the Electric Streamliner by Hyundai, uses much of the same technology as the brand’s Ioniq 5 crossover, including its E-GMP platform, which can be fitted with either a 53 or 77.4kWh battery pack. However, by using the very latest technology coupled with its super-slippery shape (0.21Cd), the Ioniq 6 can beat the most efficient Ioniq 5’s maximum claimed range by 64 miles. The design tweaks follow the facelifted Ceed hatchback, with new LED headlights and a revised front grille. There’s also been an emphasis on making the car look sportier.
