When Philip Vergeylen and Paolo Moschino tell the story of how they met and went on to establish an interior design company, it begins, appropriately, with a lamp. In 1995, Moschino was behind the counter of a Pimlico shop when Vergeylen, a Belgian newly in London, wandered in, fell for a heavy bronze lamp, baulked at the price — twice — and finally surrendered. Moschino offered to deliver it. “I took one look at Paolo and I said, ‘OK, fine.’ And that’s how we got to know each other,” recalls Vergeylen.
