What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the name Shakespeare? Is it Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, or that terrible, terrible word… “boring”? Well, all that will change once you step into the historic colonial building that is the Singapore Philatelic Museum, located on Coleman Street.
Its current exhibit, titled “Shaking it with Shakespeare” is a world of curiosities; stamps of Shakespeare from around the world, century-old picture postcards, minted coins from the Elizabethan era, original books from Shakespeare’s time, historical Tudor costumes and so much more!
Jointly organised with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, its purpose is to celebrate the 400-year anniversary of William Shakespeare’s death. That’s right, Shakespeare would have been 452 years old today, and his legacy as the greatest playwright…
