Located in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, the National Cartoon Gallery, Australia's only cartoon gallery, is home to the most extensive collection of contemporary cartoons in the Southern Hemisphere. Its exhibition and awards program champions cartoon and comic art, highlighting its value to culture and society. Gamepieces Art Gallery of South Australia Until 22 January 2023 Adelaide Gamepieces presents the scope of Indian artist Nalini Malani's oeuvre – from her pioneering experimentations in film and photography in the late 1960s to her “video/shadow plays” that draw on mythology and political histories. Trying to act casual City Library Gallery 21 December 2022 to 29 January 2023 Melbourne Brent Lukey presents a photographic series of twelve large prints and an installation. Ceramicist Glenn Barkley creates a rich visual journey by excavating his rural community's colonial past. For his exhibition Plant Your Feet at Shoalhaven Regional Gallery, New South Wales, Barkley wears two hats. He describes the show as both a creative and curatorial act, in which he combines his own pottery with museological artefacts and materials, alongside a collection of art pieces created by the Nowra community. The Art of Flowers Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre Until 12 March 2023 New South Wales Margaret Olley's unique approach to house cleaning resulted in an eclectic, flower-filled home studio interior. ASSEMBLY National Gallery of Australia Until 29 January 2023 Australian Capital Territory Angelica Mesiti's three-channel video installation ASSEMBLY is on view for the first time since debuting at the 2019 Venice Biennale. The work explores the fragility of democracy and considers how communities are formed through shared movement and communication.
