“Table, Lay Thyself!” This was the title Svenskt Tenn founder Estrid Ericson gave her heralded 1933 exhibition, in which glassware, silver, pewter, and plates mixed in happy harmony. “She had exceptional talent for balancing the simple and unadorned with the lavish and festive,” says Maria Veerasamy, CEO of the Swedish brand. To celebrate its centennial, the company is recycling that zippy title for a store presentation that will launch a suite of dining room–ready pieces, including reeditions of a 1932 table by Jan Ruhtenberg and a 1920s chair and chandelier by Josef Frank. Born in Tehran and raised in LA, Kakhsaz honed her skills at the AD100 firm Studio Shamshiri. “Like any other home I’ve had, but to a much greater degree, this apartment has been a laboratory,” says Stilin. But the arrival of the Banyan Tree Veya resort, the first stand-alone outpost of the brand’s wellness concept, is drawing fresh attention to the area even beyond its culinary offerings. Tapped to design the hotel, Mexico City–based architect Michel Rojkind integrated the 16-acre resort seamlessly into the landscape. “We envisioned a holistic environment where architecture, agriculture, and sensory experiences intersect,” he explains.
