FOLLOWING a hugely successful relaunch last year, the Barbel Masters contest is set to be expanded in 2025, with much larger cash prizes and many more contestants.
The match, fished by barbel enthusiasts from across the country, is the latest success story in a growing number of single species events that have been launched over the past few seasons.
During this time, dedicated contests for tench, pike, perch and zander have taken place, highlighting the desire from anglers, not only to expand the competitive fishing format outside of just the traditional match scene, but also encourage the burgeoning diversification in fishing styles on the current circuit.
Big-carp matches aside, this yearâs Barbel Masters will offer the largest âspecimen fishingâ prize pot of them all, with the winner taking home ÂŁ5,000âŚ
