IN carp fishing lots of people talk about “the biggest edge since the hair rig”. For me, that’s PVA. Whether it’s tape, mesh, string, nuggets or bags, the material in some guise or other has caught me thousands of fish. It’s been around for a long time now, but for some reason is becoming a bit of a forgotten art. The Ronnie and other trendy self-setting rigs seem to have diluted PVA’s appeal.
There’s no question, though, that using the right type, in the right way at the right time, is still a game-changer.
SOLID BAGS
While their use dates back to the late 1980s, they became hugely popular in the 90s. They’ve fallen from fashion but don’t doubt their effectiveness, especially if no one else on the lake…
