Venus has a lot of volcanoes – more than any other planet in the Solar System. What’s more, the number of volcanoes counted by scientists continues to rise. In May this year, scientists revealed that the second planet from the Sun is home to more than 85,000 volcanoes, and they suspect there are even more than that, given how small so many of them are. But quite how they came to be has long been wrapped in mystery, with scientists also unsure as to how Venus has kept itself looking young.
