A Canadian skier who vanished from Whiteface Mountain Ski Area, triggering a massive search, was located six days later in good health in California.
Constantinos “Danny” Filippidis, a forty-nine-year-old Toronto firefighter, disappeared late in the afternoon of Wednesday, February 7. “At that time, he told his friends he was going to take one more run,” said forest ranger David Russell, who helped oversee the search.
His friends contacted authorities when he failed to show up after the lifts closed. His car was still in the Whiteface parking lot.
