Discussion: Some children struggle with emotional regulation. They may become too silly and engage in disruptive behaviors during class, small groups, conversations, etc. Learning to identify various levels of emotional arousal and when each may or may not be appropriate to exhibit, can be very helpful for these children.
Material Prep: Print out desired boards on card stock. Laminate boards. Cut out checkmarks and X’s and laminate them. Black and white copy can simply be printed and used for students and teachers to write on if desired.
Put 3 small pieces of the rough side of Velcro under the describing words, i.e., UNCONTROLLED, WACKY, EXCITED, HAPPY, CALM, and put small pieces of the soft side of the Velcro on the checkmarks and X’s.
