W hile Substance Painter has become a staple for many 3D artists, there’s always room to improve. So, Allegorithmic has launched Substance Source, a new online material library that offers users of Substance Painter 1.4 access to pre-made, customisable, physically based materials. Some are based on scans of real-world materials, while others are hand-painted or created proceduarally to get the best possible finish.
“Beyond having the best tools, artists also need inspiration, whether this consists of samples, references, or elements that can be customised and remixed,” says Dr. Sébastien Deguy, founder and CEO of Allegorithmic. “Substance Source is a new but fundamental component in the Substance ecosystem, which means that artists have everything they need in one place and are freer to concentrate on what truly matters.”
