Big, loose curls, fabulously lush Afros and natural textures have been taking over the runways for the past few seasons, marking a penchant for statement-making hair that continued at the spring 2025 shows, particularly at 3.1 Phillip Lim, Collina Strada and Ralph Lauren.
“We have seen a rise in natural texture on the runway for a few reasons,” says Sam Groeneveld, senior designer at Lure salon in Vancouver, who points to fashion’s recent tendency for accessibility and inclusion. “The girls [on the runways] are portrayed as ‘everyday girls,’” he says, citing the growing trend in beauty for a “flawless, natural look.”
