For a long time, Pilates was regarded as an 'easy, girl workout’, often underestimated by those seeking traditional strength training. That is, until more people started trying it out of curiosity—or sheer skepticism—and left the studio sore, humbled, and very, very wrong.
Ironically, Pilates wasn’t designed to be an ‘easy’ workout. It was originally created for injured soldiers during World War I to help them rebuild strength. Later, dancers and athletes adopted it for injury prevention, but somehow, it became a ‘girly’ workout.
