With some of the Television Academy’s favorite shows — “Succession,” “Atlanta” and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” — back in contention, it was no surprise that they heavily influenced the 74th annual Primetime Emmy nominations, announced on July 12. While last year saw Netflix’s “The Crown” dominating, the absence of the period favorite opened the door for newcomers, including Apple TV+’s “Severance” and Showtime’s “Yellowjackets,” to shine.
Together, HBO and HBO Max scored 140 nominations, up from 130 last year, while Netflix took a dip, landing 105 nominations, compared to its 129 in 2021.
