BY THE TIME this issue of Vantage reaches you, Bonhams’ annual Aston Martin sale will have been and gone, but the wait for another Aston-only auction will be a short one: RM Sotheby’s has announced that it will host an ‘Evening of Aston Martin’ on August 15 as part of its Monterey extravaganza.
Just one consignment, a 1964 DB5 estimated at $700,000-900,000, has been revealed so far. RM promises, though, that the Monterey Conference Center will be filled with ‘more than 30 of the world’s most sought-after road-going and track-ready Aston Martins’. Hardly ‘managing our expectations’, but on the evidence of its Villa Erba catalogue, the house is unlikely to disappoint.
