I am slightly bleary-eyed and sore as just yesterday (as I write this), we had the German Car Festival. Regular readers will have seen us pushing this show in the mag and across social media over the past couple of months, and that’s because it is our publishing company’s show, and so we are really invested in it. BMW is expanding its X1 range with the introduction of the new iX1 eDrive20. The new BMW iX1 eDrive20 will be available for delivery in the UK from the start of production in November 2023 at a recommended retail price of £44,560 for the Sport model, while the xLine trim will be available for £46,5600 and M Sport will retail at £49,310. As with all of BMW’s current electric vehicles, the new iX1 eDrive20 uses the company’s fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology.A highly integrated drive unit on the front axle of the new entry-level model generates an instantaneously available maximum torque of 182lb ft in addition to the maximum output of 204hp. It feels as if this moment has been a very long time coming. The G42 2 Series Coupé was revealed in July 2021, and even before we drove the M240i in November of that year, the rumours and talk of a new M2 were swirling around. @totalbmwmag The last thing on the to-do list for the E36 was to get the alignment sorted. Over time, this deviates from where it should be, and that means your car won’t drive as well as it should. It seemed very likely that the E36 had not had an alignment carried out in a very long time judging by the wear on the tyres, so the guys at BMSport (020 8304 9797) recommended one. This was especially worthwhile considering it had fresh rubber, as it would ensure the car would be driving as well as it possibly could. 2002 TOURING Modified 2002s don’t come up that often. They are out there; we’ve seen a few, and we’ve even got a few lined up for future features. M1 PROCAR BMW has created many mind-blowing race cars from sports to F1 – but the midengined M1 and the one-make Procar series of races both win enthusiasts’ hearts for out and-out thrill appeal. The Bowden family history starts back in the early 1920s when Frank Bowden began chalking up sales with some of the first Australian-built Fords at his sister’s dealership at Dalby in Queensland. After WWII, and with this sales experience behind him, he set up his own General Motors Holden sales centre. M. It’s just the 13th letter of the alphabet, but in BMW circles it stands for a whole lot more than that. Or at least it used to. M for Motorsport. BMW uses the English word partly due to the US market and probably because Porsche historically had used RS RennSport (racing sport) on increasingly more extreme versions of the 911. For BMW, of course, it began with the M1, a car designed and built purely for homologation into racing, to take the fight to Porsche.
