Peter Usborne 1937-2023
In 1961, Peter Usborne, who has died aged 85, co-founded the satirical magazine Private Eye, said The Daily Telegraph. A decade later, he launched a venture of his own – Usborne, the hugely successful children’s book publishing company. The secret of its success, he said, lay in seeing things from a child’s point of view, and also in looking at “the dusty corners of children’s book publishing that are neglected by people looking for the next J.K. Rowling”.
Peter Usborne was born in London in 1937, and brought up in Surrey.
